NANDO.AI is the cutting-edge computer vision algorithm that powers every NANDO.Product (display, sensors, cameras and software applications). Every product developed by Re Learn is integrated with NANDO.AI as its core artificial intelligence engine, ensuring precise performance, robust reliability, and optimal functionality.

How does NANDO.AI technology work?

NANDO technology is a software or hardware solution that collects information on waste usage and types. The data gathered is accessible to customers through a web application hosted on the NANDO infrastructure. ReLearn srl company for NANDO.AI got the ISO 9001:2015 with the following scope β€œDesign and implementation of Artificial Intelligence algorithms for the realisation of software and services for the optimisation of waste management.”

What kind of data is collected?

NANDO technology is configured to collect only images of the waste inside a bin, container or in a selected area. The stored data are waste images and computed metadata from which we can create the dashboard for Recycling rate, quantities, filling level etc. The metadata is than used to visualize content on the tablets and on the dashboard.

How is the weight of waste determined from a photo?

NANDO.AI uses computer vision and artificial intelligence to estimate the weight of waste items from a photo. The process works as follows:

  1. Object Recognition – The AI identifies the waste item in the image, classifying it into one of 72+ waste categories.
  2. Database Matching – The recognized item is compared against our database of millions of labeled images, each associated with a verified weight.
  3. Weight Estimation – By leveraging this extensive dataset, the system accurately determines the estimated weight of the waste item.

How is the bin's filling level determined from a photo?

NANDO.AI calculates the bin filling level by analyzing the image captured of the bin and comparing the pixels in the image. Specifically, the AI processes the image to identify the visible waste and empty space within the bin. By comparing the number of pixels occupied by waste to the total number of pixels in the bin, NANDO.AI determines the filling level. This allows the system to accurately assess how full the bin is, providing real-time insights into waste levels for optimized waste management.
